God's First and Second Genesis
Is God capable of making a mistake? Many would assert that to be unthinkable, but in early earth history, we can read in the first chapter of the Bible that God made a race of humans that turned out to be too smart for their britches, apparently. As we read in Genesis, they began to take advantage of others and commit acts of violence.

Quoting Genesis chapter 6, “The loathsomeness of all mankind has become plain to me, for the earth is full of violence. I intend to destroy them.”
​
God follows through on this, as we read in chapter 7 that God caused a great flood to cover the whole earth, eliminating all living things except those who were saved by riding Noah’s Ark. Quoting Genesis 6, “When the Lord saw that man had done much evil on earth and that his thoughts and inclinations were always evil, he was sorry that he had made man on earth, and he was grieved at heart. He said, ‘This race of men whom I have created, I will wipe them off the face of the earth – man and beast, reptiles, and birds. I am sorry that I ever made them.”
It is clear that God was willing to experiment. Initially, God made humans made humans capable of living for hundreds of years. Later, He decided to reduce the human lifespan to just 120 years (gen. 6:3).

Note that Noah lived for 950 years.

Reducing man’s lifespan to just 120 years was one big change, but it might not have been the only adjustment. I’m guessing that He lowered man’s intelligence level at the same time as part of His plan to reduce the amount of scheming and conniving that was taking place. Subsequently, people were more likely to behave nicely.

As a side note, I can't help but notice that from the way God expresses Himself, God has emotions. Reflect upon that!
Proof of a world-wide flood is available in many forms.
​
Skeletal remains of a great many species of plants and animals have been found in a layer (sometimes exposed, sometimes below ground) that scientists call the Cambrian explosion zone.
​
Many scientists believe that this zone is evidence of a period in which evolution shifted into high gear, producing new species at an exceptional rate. However, a more likely explanation is that this was the burial grounds for almost all life on earth.
​
Scientists who believe that this zone represents evolution in high gear have no explanation for this kind of exceptional speed, nor is there proof of any other such events in geological history.
It is important to note that there are large, un-filled gaps in the evolutionary line. For example, evolutionists hold to the idea that fish evolved from birds. However, there is currently no fossil record of intermediate life forms between these two. It goes without saying that birds and fish are as different as night and day, and yet, the fish-to-bird transition idea is the only explanation they have been able to come up with.
As a side-note, the Biblical text makes mention of the rather mysterious Nephilim: “In those days, when the sons of the gods had intercourse with the daughters of men and got children by them, the Nephilim were on earth. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.” (Gen. 6:4) Not knowing what to think of this, I have no comments to offer.
One thing is certain. Things turned out differently than God expected. Apparently, God was using the good old “trial and error” approach. Is that a problem? Not necessarily. God is emotional and creative. (Regular people being like that as well, we can identify.)
Ancient Structures

Early humans must have been bigger, stronger, more ambitious, and adventurous, as we can see from the remnants of buildings they left behind and from ancient seafaring maps.
​
Some TV shows focus upon ancient structures found in various locations in the world, plus artwork (viz the Nasca Lines). The question is raised as to who created them. In many of these shows, it is suggested that aliens came to earth and created them. In one series of this kind of show, they bring in “Ancient Astronaut Theorists” to help enlighten us. I’m always amused when I hear that phrase.
​
Nevertheless, these programs bring out forth some fascinating truths: That mammoth structures involving square or rectangular stone blocks of enormous size and weight exist in various locations around the world. No one knows how anyone would have been able to cut and transport these blocks to the building sites and then lift them into position.
​
For example, consider these well-known buildings:

Teotihuacan Gobekli Tepe The Great Pyramids Nan Madol
Machu Picchu Stonehenge Yonaguni Monument and underwater structures
Puma Punku
Stones at these sites are positively massive -- and precision cut. For instance, the polished limestone slabs that form the ceiling of the Great Pyramid’s inner chamber weigh 25 to 80 tons each, and it is reported that many of the casing stones and inner chamber blocks of the Great Pyramid were fit together with extremely high precision.

There is something else. Ancient builders were aware of the magical number pi and World communications must have been good. The Pyramid of the Sun at Teotihuacan in Mexico shows a deliberate use of the number pi. It’s height stands in a relationship of 2pi to the perimeter of its base. In comparison, the Pyramid of the Sun in Egypt has a height that stands in a relationship of 4pi to the perimeter of its base.

Note that the Great Pyramid and the Sphinx show signs of significant water damage -- more than you could expect from just rain. Some of the other ancient buildings exhibit water damage as well.

Flood Evidence

Flood evidence has been found in other areas of the world, including China. Consider this report of massive flooding in China’s past, as published in The Washington Post:

More than 4,000 years ago, one of the most advanced societies in ancient China, referred to as “China’s Venice of the Stone Age” for its complex water management system, disappeared suddenly.
​
The reason for the abrupt collapse of Liangzhu City hasn’t been clear until now, but according to a new study published in the journal Science Advances, the city was wiped out not by war or famine but by an unusually heavy monsoon season, which flooded the region.
​
The ruins of Liangzhu City can be found in the Yangtze Delta, around 160 kilometers southwest of Shanghai, all that remains of an advanced society that existed around 5,300 years ago.
​
Between 4,345 and 4,324 years ago, the city and the surrounding area was bombarded with an unusually high level of rain. It was the specific isotope records of carbon found in the cave samples that allowed researchers to pinpoint at what time this precipitation increased. A lab at Xi’an Jiaotong University tested the samples and were confident within 30 years plus or minus that they had found the time when the rain pummeled Liangzhu.
Lending credence to this story, a similar story was published in the Washington Post on August 4, 2016, with this heading:
Legends say China began in a great flood. Scientists just found evidence that the flood was real.
Here is an excerpt:
"He brings order out of the chaos and defines the land, separating what would become the center of Chinese civilization," said David Cohen, an anthropologist and early Chinese history expert at National Taiwan University. "He is essentially establishing the political order and the ideologies of rulership."
It is a powerful foundation myth, but many believed that was all it was. Some 4,000 years after the flood was supposed to have happened, historians had found no archaeological evidence of its effect or firsthand accounts of its destruction. There are no historical artifacts from Yu, or the Xia dynasty he founded. All researchers had to go on were stories written long after the fact, dramatized and politicized to justify the ends of those who wrote them.
That is, until Wu Qinglong, a geologist at Nanjing Normal University, found signs of the flood in the sediments beneath his feet.
In a new paper published Thursday in the journal Science, Wu and his colleagues describe geological evidence for a catastrophic flood on the Yellow River in about 1900 B.C. — right around the time the “Great Flood” was said to have taken place.
"This expands our understanding," said Andrew Sudgen, deputy editor of Science magazine, "not only of civilization’s origins, but also the environment in which ancestral societies emerged."
“In 2007, while conducting research on rock around the Yellow River, Wu noticed deposits that looked suspiciously like "outburst flood sediments." Bits of green schist — a type of rock found in the mountains far upstream — and mudstone were uncovered at sites all along the river. The sediments appeared in layers much thicker than was normal for the Yellow River, indicating that they had been deposited swiftly by a massive flood.”

Conclusion:

Returning now to the biblical text, we read in Genesis chapter 8 that God caused a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters began to subside. By the end of 150 days, dry ground began to appear, and the ark came to rest on a mountain in Ararat. Still, it was not possible to exit the ark until several more months had passed. At last, when conditions were right, God said to Noah, ‘Come out of the ark, you and your wife, your sons, and their wives. Bring out every living creature that is with you, live things of every kind, bird and beast and every reptile that moves on the ground and let them swarm over the earth and be fruitful and increase there.’

Then God promised, “Never again will I curse the ground because of man, however evil his inclinations may be from his youth upwards. I will never again kill every living creature, as I have just done. While the earth lasts seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall never cease.”

“God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and increase, and fill the earth. The fear and dread of you shall fall upon all wild animals on earth, on all birds of heaven, on everything that moves upon the ground and all fish in the sea; they are given into your hands. Every creature that lives and moves shall be food for you; I give you them all, as once I gave you all green plants. But you must not eat flesh with the life (which is in the blood) still in it.”

things of every kind. Never again shall the waters become a flood to destroy all living creatures.’ “
